Vacation Time

Finally some rest.

…Or sort of.

I don’t know about all of you, but I’ve been working my butt all year and was in desperate need for some R&R.

I’m not complaining, I’ve said it many time, and I’ll say it again – I love my jobs, but working 6 days a week is tough.

So, after working for a year at the hospital, I finally have a week off with paid vacation, woohoo! Hard work definitely pays off!

The downside? Well, I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before, but both of my parents remarried. My father then proceeded to have a midlife crisis and the result was two more kids. Ha! I must say, from the moment I found out my stepmom was pregnant with my baby bro, I was ecstatic. I always wanted a brother! And then when my baby sis came along, it really felt like our family was complete. I absolutely love my younger brother and sister. However, let’s just say my father is incredibly lucky he has an older adult daughter to help him out.

My baby sis (although not so baby anymore, she’s a woman now in her own right) is an absolute sweetheart, and I honestly hope she stays that way. My brother, on the other hand, is a handful.

His latest escapade was failing French because he didn’t feel like doing his end of the year oral. The result is that he has summer school. One hiccup? My father had been planning a trip to Cape May for months and had already put down some deposits. So guess who has to spend her week off giving her brother lifts to school at 8:30am and picking him back up at 12:00pm? You guessed it, me. Because I am way too much of a good daughter to say no. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my dad and I said I would make sure my brother would go to school everyday without hesitation. And it’s also great my brother is staying with me for a week, I do love the little bugger and he seems to be having a good day. Driving him isn’t even really a problem. The only thing is, I was planning on going away for the week… Or at least sleeping in.

Oh well.

So here I am, sitting in a café, trying to finish up the next book in my Sarah Dessen journey (don’t worry, I didn’t forget). To be honest, after her last book that left me slightly depressed, I needed a few days to get it out of my system. Luckily, This Lullaby seems to be a lot lighter in mood. More on this (hopefully) tomorrow. In the meantime, what are all of your summer plans (please comment 😉 )?

Sincerely,
The Struggling Librarian

  1. Oh no, not fair when you were looking forward to some lie ins. My plans are mainly stopping the kids who are getting too bloody old to be squabbling from doing so. Joyful I know.
